Looking for things to do with the children this summer holiday? Here is one suggestion which won’t cost the earth and promises to keep the whole family thoroughly entertained for the afternoon…
World Jungle is organising another FREE family fun day event on Thursday 31 July from 1pm-4pm. The event marks the conclusion of their lottery funded ‘All in one Rhythm’ programme which saw a whole range of free events and workshops themed around the Brazilian World Cup and Carnival throughout June and July.
The Fun Day will take place at the Chantry Centre in Long Street, Dursley using both Lister Hall and the ‘secret garden’ outdoor space. Everyone is invited to come along and enjoy a whole range of indoor and outdoor activities including arts & crafts, face painting, circus skills, table tennis, drumming and more! Event organiser, Ben Ward explains:
“Over the past couple of months this project aimed to make the World Cup an exciting family event, bringing the community together and making it fun, even for those who don’t like football!
Whilst some of the football was disappointing, we had fantastic feedback from local people attending our events, who loved the theme of Brazil and Carnival coming out through carnival arts and crafts, samba drumming and capoeira displays and workshops.
Over 200 people attended our Fun Day held back in the May half-term holiday. We often have feedback from people that it is really important to have family events during the school holidays that won’t break the bank and are right here on their doorstep, so we decided to host our final event in this programme during the long summer break.”
Lead by World Jungle, the project is with thanks to funding from the BIG Lottery’s ‘Awards for All’ programme. For more information, please contact Ben Ward at World Jungle on 07889 512644, visit www.worldjungle.org.uk or email firstname.lastname@example.org
