A group of young people from the Berkeley and Sharpness Youth Forum did a wonderful job organising a fantastic, Christmas themed event for their whole community to enjoy last weekend.
The special event called ‘The Berkeley Bash’ took place at Hamfields Leisure Centre and had lots of activities for children and families to enjoy including arts and crafts, stalls and a Santa’s grotto. Throughout the afternoon a number of local bands took to the stage too delivering some fantastic performances to bring the hall to life.
The free community event was the idea of the Berkeley Vale Youth Forum, supported by local community organisation World Jungle, Youth & Community services and funding from the Stroud District Youth Fund.
The Youth Forum wanted to deliver an event that would publicise their group, help to recruit new members and show a positive image of young people in Berkeley and Sharpness. Ben Ward, Director of World Jungle said:
“The event was well supported by the local community, bringing together a whole cross-section of people young and old, who enjoyed a wonderful afternoon of entertainment.
It was a fantastic celebration and conclusion to a body of work we have been doing with young people in Berkeley and Sharpness over the past year. They have gained lots of valuable skills and experience through its planning and delivery, showing what a hugely positive and creative force they are. We are hugely proud of all the young people who took part. ”
