A wonderful afternoon of music and entertainment is being planned on Thursday 28th January at the Chantry Centre (Lister Hall) in Dursley as organisers try and capture the spirit of traditional Tea Dances.
It is hoped the event will attract lots of local people to the venue which has played such an important role in the town’s history. Local community organisation World Jungle is assisting the Chantry Centre to put on the event by bringing the entertainment including singers and dances to add sparkle and encourage people to the dance floor.
Jane Manning from World Jungle said:
“We hope that the Lister Hall Tea Dance will prove a popular event and one that can become a regular feature on the town’s calendar. The Chantry Centre is a great space to bring the community together and is used by lots of local groups of all ages. It is a resource we should try and build on for the town.
We were particularly pleased to be involved in this event as it links well to our ‘Full of Life’ project which has seen us run many events at the Chantry Centre over the past 18 months particularly aimed at older people in our community, helping to bring people together and create healthier, happier communities.”
The event is free entry and everyone is very welcome. There will be a variety of refreshments on sale during the afternoon including tea and cakes.
