Activities for Teenagers across the Cotswolds this summer

With the long summer holidays just around the corner, planning is well under way to deliver a programme of special events and activities to engage young people across the Cotswolds over the holiday period.

World Jungle is delighted to have received support from Cotswold District Council’s Youth Activities Fund to deliver a programme of events and activities specifically targeted at teenagers.  The programme will be based around five locations across the district: Cirencester, Chipping Campden, Northleach, Tetbury and Fairford.

As well as incorporating a number of youth events that have proved very popular over previous years including the ‘Scratch and Skate’ festivals in Cirencester and Tetbury and the Cirencester Phoenix Festival, young people will be consulted on the programme and involved in decision making around what new activities they would like to see.   Ben Ward from World Jungle said:

“We are very excited to have this opportunity to put together a programme specifically targeted at teenagers and young people.  We will be working closely with local youth groups in the five areas, involving young people in the planning of the programme to ensure that the activities and events we put on are what they want to see.   We hope that the project which will build on the successful schemes we have delivered across the county over the past few years.”

The funding was made available under Cotswold District Council’s Youth Activities Fund.  It will also include a consultation exercise with young people to help identify key issues and needs in order to inform future work and planning in this area.

As in previous years, World Jungle will also be running activities and events for younger children and families across the Cotswolds over the summer holidays.  Details of both programmes with the workshops and events taking place can be found on the World Jungle website with a link from the ‘What’s On’ page:  www.worldjungle.org.uk
