With the school summer holidays approaching fast, planning is well underway to offer children, young people and families across the Cotswolds a fun programme of activities to enjoy during July and August.
Local community and arts organisation World Jungle is delighted to have received support from Gloucestershire County Council’s Children’s Activity Fund through local Councillor Shaun Parsons to run an additional summer holiday programme for children and families to enjoy in South Cerney this August.
The week-long programme starting on Monday 8th August will include a combination of indoor and outdoor activities using local venues and green spaces, culminating in a large free Family Fun Day event on Friday 12th August with a whole range of fun activities to enjoy. Ben Ward from World Jungle said:
“We are really excited to be back in South Cerney this summer and have put together a fantastic programme for the week including a range of things to suit all interests. Activities will include learning outdoor survival skills at the Cotswold Forest School, climbing at Head 4 Heights, drop-in sports and games sessions and a chance to get creative with arts and crafts too.
We want to inspire kids to get active this summer, learn about healthy behaviours, try new things… and of course have lots of fun along the way!”
The funding was made available under the ‘Children’s Activity Fund’, a grant scheme from Gloucestershire County Council encouraging more sport and physical activity across the county. World Jungle is delivering similar programmes in other areas in the Cotswolds too, each with the backing of the respective local councillor: Cllr Paul Hodgkinson (Bourton and Northleach), Cllr Nigel Moor (Stow on the Wold) and Cllr Shaun Parsons (South Cerney).
Councillor Shaun Parsons said:
“I am really pleased to be able to support this programme again this year for children and families living in and around South Cerney. It is hugely important to be able to offer a range of affordable and accessible activities in the heart of our community.
We hope the programme will build on the success of last year, helping families over the summer holidays and encouraging children to get active, try new things and make use of our parks and green spaces.”
Details of these local programmes together with other family events and youth events taking place over the summer across the Cotswolds can be found on the World Jungle website: www.worldjungle.org.uk .
