A great night was had by all last Saturday as DJs and party people gathered at the Chantry Centre in Dursley and partied into the early hours. The Dursley DJ Sessions was set up by a group of music enthusiasts who were keen to play music, bring the community together and liven up the sleepy market town of Dursley in Gloucestershire. Since starting back in October 2016, the group have organised 4 nights with over 25 DJs playing a whole range of music from rock, funk, soul, house, hip hop to jungle. The night is now monthly usually on the last Saturday of the month. It is free to attend although donations are collected, the group are keen to have new DJs come and play especially more women. If you are interested in coming along or playing you can find out more by visiting the Dursley DJ Sessions facebook page.
The GEM Project (Going the Extra Mile) is all about helping individuals to move closer towards education, training, volunteering or employment. It offers people ‘one to one’ support, helping to build confidence and self-esteem, develop skills and qualifications, access training and work experience opportunities and move closer to education and work.
Jane Manning at World Jungle is our GEM project worker, providing a 1:2:1 support service for people from the Cam & Dursley area and beyond. She specialises in supporting those from rural areas and has an excellent knowledge of local training, volunteering and extra-curricular activities to encourage people to be work ready.
